(EP) 3. Road Rule, a Child’s Play?

Dear Parents,

Please teach your school-going child
How to cross the road,
And your college-going grown-up
Why to follow a road rule——

Look on either side near the Zebra-crossing
No zig zag fancy while driving;
Use horn, blinker, seat-belt and helmet
To not to remind the fellow commuters of kismet.
Let high-beam lights illuminate,
And not allow the brightness shower darkness.

Speeding leads to concern
Instead, look, think and discern.
All (e)documents are mandatory
And ignorance is predatory.
Commonsense should prevail
If not, it may not be a smooth sail.

The nursery rhyme still holds – “Stop says the red ...”
So that the onlookers realise, “he's well-bred!”

Childhood, youth and middle age are keen stages of learning. I believe, the unlearning is a way to learn as we move forward from here, just as a satellite would detach itself from a few components to reach its destination. In this process, we might leave a few footsteps! Hence the effort to store a few ideas in English, Telugu and Hindi.

  1. The poem “Road rule,a child’s play ” is very impressive.
The line ” And not allow the brightness shower darkness”….. unquestionably throws light on the reckless driving which leads to accidents .
These lines also caution those who drive without following” road rules”
