34. Gifted with Gifting

Once, I saw a group of students celebrating
Wishing their friend during cake-cutting;
They always had great camaraderie,
A winsome association — the friendship tree.

While I was made part of the entire celebration,
As I too was so engrossed in the jubilation,
I could see some good gifts, presented by most
Nonetheless some just wishing, each one was a dost.

Post the occasion in break, during my class,
My curiosity prompted me to ask about the gifting gloss;
To my great surprise, I heard some natural laws,
Behind a man and woman’s thought process.

“What would you do on your friend’s birthday?”
“Ask for a party, give birthday bums and call it a day”
While the boys said this, the girls zealously said,
“Wish the friend, buy a cake, surprise with a gift,” we all heard!

Asking and giving are natural synonyms here,
Both give, both take; who for whom to care?
Any person, while receiving a gift, is normally thrilled,
Except that we need to learn gifting from a girl child.
